What is the most christmassey thing to do in London that is also a quintessential British tradition? The Peggy Porschen Festive Afternoon Tea at The Lanesborough.

On the quest of  getting into the festive cheer and doing more of what makes me happy, I made a booking for the afternoon tea via  www.bookatable.co.uk . I highly recommend booking in advance to avoid any disappointments and if like me you want a particular sitting in the room, add a note in your booking that it’s a special occasion (cheesy but works like a charm!).

Getting there

The Lanesborough is easy to find, located near Hyde Park Corner Underground station in Central London with nearby attractions like Buckingham palace and Harrods.

What to expect

The Peggy Porschen Afternoon Tea at The Lanesborough is a multiple-time winner of the UK Tea Council’s Award of Excellence and so I had very high expectations of this looming indulgence.

On arrival, we were greeted by the lovely concierge staff and ushered into the Michelin starred Céleste dining room where the pianist was playing and singing enchanting Christmas carols. I was really taken by the beautiful décor of floral and pastel pinks flowers and the suspended chandeliers in true Venetian-style opulence.

The menu

Once seated, we received our menus and a glass of the finest champagne to start the festivities.

The Peggy Porschen Afternoon Tea has a wide selection on the menu to meet everyone’s taste like The Festive Afternoon Tea, Festive Gluten free afternoon tea, Festive Vegetarian afternoon tea, Festive Vegan afternoon tea and the Festive Children’s afternoon tea.

We went for the Festive Afternoon Tea, which was a selection of festive finger sandwiches, pastries and home made scones served with clotted cream and fruit preserves. I just love the combination of sweet treats, savouries and afternoon tea gives you bit of both- the ultimate festive comfort food.

We visited The Lanesborough for the festive afternoon tea shortly before the Tier 4 restrictions in London and it was priced at £75 per person including a glass of champagne.

a Hit or Miss?

We had a lovely experience and amazing service all around. I highly recommend this magical sweet treat to anyone looking for a fancy day out in the city. It gets a whopping 10/10 from me .

Spread the love

  1. This looks absolutely amazing! I love the idea of an afternoon tea during Christmas given it is nice and cold in London and perfect for a cuppa! Also, the detail around that venue is breathtaking!!!
