One of my relaxation indulgence is a spa treat in absolute tranquility outdoors. I am yet to experience this in the UK so when I recently travelled to South Africa I made sure to include this in my itinerary! A perfect treat to unwind in the largest garden spa in Johannesburg whilst bonding with my sister Runwi.

Getting there

The Balinese-style Spa at Fairlawns boutique hotel is nestled in Sandton (Johannesburg) and we opted for a self drive as it was convenient for us however you can use Gautrain , Uber or organise a hotel transfer to get there . We booked directly through their website www.fairlawns.co.za

What to expect

As you enter the elegant styled boutique hotel, you can see why they are award winning for Africa’s best luxury and spa.We were warmly welcomed by the receptionist who offered us drinks and then ushered us into the changing rooms . After putting away our valuables and changing into our robes and slippers we made our way to the treatment rooms.

The Treat

There is a vast collection of pamper packages curated for your individual or group needs. We opted for the 1 hour Balinese full body treatment from scalp to foot. I like me some medium pressure and made it known to the therapist who made sure to deliver a relaxation and soothing treatment. I especially loved the essential oils they used on my skin as they left a silky-soft lasting effect days after.

After the massage pamper , we made our way outside to the Balinese gardens and relaxed ourselves into the jacuzzi . We ordered drinks from the bar ,champagne for me and a chardonnay for my sister as we toasted to the memories created and the time spent together.

We ended our day with a scrumptious lunch at the Hotel restaurant, Amuse-bouche where their seafood linguine was one of the best I have had so far.

a Hit or Miss?

The Spa at Fairlawns is a hidden gem in the city that really feels like you are somewhere in Bali . The service was exceptional, great ambience and wonderful facilities for a pamper treat . Having visited in the morning midweek, I do think its probably the best time as it was less busier and we pretty much had most of the facilities to ourselves. I look forward to visiting again and enjoy a staycation at Fairlawns Boutique Hotel.

xoxo

  1. Never would I have thought that JHB has hidden gems. Thanks for sharing. (As I make a mental note to go there)

    1. And it’s hidden away in a residential where you’d never expect it! Definitely one of the best experience I’ve had in a while.
